This will be a special year for Geely Holding, marking the 40tanniversary of our founding. Over the past four decades, ourgroup has undergone a relentless transformation from humblebeginnings in Taizhou, to becoming a global intelligent technologyenterprise.We owe this progress to the perseverance and hardwork of all our colleagues.
So, l would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfeltgratitude and New Year greetings to everyone in the wider Geelyfamily, to our trusted users and partners, and to friends whohave supported our development.
Geely’s history is one of proactive transformations and risingto challenges.In 1986, amid the opening-up of China, Geelyseized the “critical moment” of opportunity and embarked on itsentrepreneurial journey. From refrigerator parts to decorativematerials,then to motorcycles, the hardships and explorationsof our early days sharpened our market instincts and forgedresilience, laying a solid foundation for future development.
On the eve of the new millennium, when Geely decided to focuson the automobile industry despite barriers, technological gapsand overwhelming skepticism.However, by sticking to the simplebelief of making “good cars ordinary people can afford”, we builtup a successful business.
In 2007,we issued the Ningbo Declaration, switching our focusfrom a low-price strategy to leadership in technology and qualityThis transition brought its own challenges, but we perseveredto lay a solid foundation of management, R&D, and systemcapabilities that elevated Geely and set us up for our next era.
The 2010 acquisition of Volvo Cars returned the tiger tothe mountains and marked a critical moment in GeelyHolding’s globalization journey. We set out to achieve mutualempowerment and win-win cooperation with Volvo, gaininginvaluable experience for our global strategy and taking the firststep to our uniquely successful global portfolio structure thatwe see today.
