BAIC FOTON’s Thailand plant held a ceremony for the first batch of light trucks exported to Indonesia. The successful rollout marks the model’s official mass production in Thailand and its export readiness. The trucks were packaged and shipped to Indonesia, reinforcing BAIC FOTON’s strategy of “local production + regional distribution”and marking a key step in expanding its presence in the ASEAN right-hand drive market.

The successful rollout of these light trucks highlights the enhanced local production capacity at BAIC FOTON’s Thailand plant and lays a solid foundation for future export operations. This model is one of the key vehicles tailored to meet the demands of the Southeast Asian market, offering efficient power, reliable performance, and agile handling to navigate the region’s complex road conditions and diverse logistics needs. After the first batch was produced at the Thailand plant, the trucks were shipped to Indonesia via standardized container shipping, ensuring transportation efficiency and showcasing BAIC FOTON’s expertise in international logistics and supply chain management.

As a key manufacturing base for BAIC FOTON in ASEAN, the Thailand plant is central to the company’s strategy of becoming a global and Asia-Pacific manufacturing hub. It handles production and export tasks for the right-hand drive market. Covering approximately 37,000 square meters, the plant has an annual capacity of 3,000 units per shift and has obtained TISI certification, TAI localization certification, and DLT registration approval. With a forward-looking plan, the plant focuses on developing a full range of commercial vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks, medium-duty trucks, light trucks, buses, and new energy vehicles. It is equipped with comprehensive facilities, including an assembly workshop, testing and debugging area, quality inspection line, and logistics warehouse. The plant has successfully implemented SKD localization and stands out as a leader in China’s commercial vehicle industry in Thailand.

The shift of light truck production to Thailand for export to Indonesia marks BAIC FOTON’s successful implementation of a localized manufacturing strategy, enhancing product competitiveness and steadily expanding regional market share. The company is also actively building an industrial ecosystem that includes after-sales service, operational leasing, connected vehicle applications, and export operations. In response to the Thai government’s push for environmental goals and vehicle electrification, BAIC FOTON’s Thailand plant will accelerate the introduction of a full range of models, offering a broader product lineup to provide cleaner and more sustainable transportation solutions for Thailand and Southeast Asia.
