Based on genuine user demands, BYD has set three core goals for the next phase of automotive intelligence: zero traffic accidents, turning driving assistance systems into “super drivers”, and empowering AI to act as a “super assistant”. The company will continue to invest over RMB 100 billion in R&D to improve traffic safety and enhance people’s well-being.

Ushering in the Era of Universal Urban Navigation Assistance with Safety Guarantees

In February 2025, BYD rolled out the Universal Intelligent Driving Strategy, equipping all its models with the God’s Eye driving assistance system as standard. Carrying forward the vision of making premium technologies accessible to everyone, BYD announced the arrival of the universal urban navigation era. The laser-version God’s Eye B urban navigation system is available as an optional upgrade across all models at a price of RMB 12,000. Meanwhile, God’s Eye C will receive a major over-the-air (OTA) update scheduled for December this year.

Since the launch of the intelligent parking safety protection program last July, the usage rate of God’s Eye intelligent parking function has risen from 21% to 93%, with nearly zero accident records. Confident in its technology and committed to consumers, BYD further launched the one-year safety protection for urban navigation assistance:

All new users of God’s Eye A and God’s Eye B, as well as existing owners who upgrade to God’s Eye 5.0 via OTA, are entitled to this one-year protection. In the event of a liable traffic accident arising from proper use of the urban navigation function, BYD will fully cover all direct economic losses, including vehicle repair fees, third-party property damage and personal injury compensation.

Unlike conventional intelligent driving insurance in the industry, BYD’s urban navigation protection is completely free of charge with no compensation cap, and will not affect the renewal premium of commercial vehicle insurance. BYD is now the only automaker providing dual safety guarantees for both urban navigation and intelligent parking, enabling driving assistance technologies to integrate seamlessly into daily travel with enhanced safety.

This bold safety commitment is backed by three core strengths of the God’s Eye system:

  1. Scale advantage: Over 3.15 million BYD vehicles equipped with driving assistance systems, ranking first among Chinese automakers.
  2. Data advantage: The system accumulates over 200 million kilometers of operational data every day, leading the domestic industry.
  3. R&D advantage: The driving assistance R&D team comprises more than 5,000 engineers, one of the largest teams in China’s automotive sector.

Safety First: Further Evolution of BYD’s Full-Vehicle Intelligence

As the industry’s first full-vehicle intelligent driving assistance system, God’s Eye has undergone four major upgrades:

  • Architecture: Upgraded to Xuanji Architecture 2.0, featuring an integrated central controller for cockpit, driving and electric systems.
  • Sensors: Adopting an industry-first satellite-style sensor layout.
  • Algorithms: Powered by an advanced physical AI large model.
  • Data: Leveraging BYD’s massive industry-leading data repository to enable rapid iteration of intelligent driving algorithms for steadily improved performance and reliability.

In addition, BYD unveiled its all-new intelligent agent Didi Shrimp, which empowers the DiLink AI intelligent cockpit with powerful capabilities for interactive communication, task execution and entertainment. A series of exclusive, engaging and evolvable digital avatars are also introduced, revolutionizing human-vehicle interaction and delivering proactive full-scenario services.

Looking ahead to high-level autonomous driving, BYD will launch the L3/L4 autonomous driving version of God’s Eye. It features ten layers of redundant architecture, and is the world’s first to be fitted with ultra-high-definition lidar, high-speed cameras and dual long-wave infrared cameras, setting new benchmarks for autonomous driving safety and user experience.

24 Years of Accumulation: China’s First Self-Developed 4nm Intelligent Driving Chip

“Electrification relies on batteries; intelligence relies on chips.”

The newly launched Xuanji A3 is China’s first 4nm process intelligent driving chip and has entered large-scale mass production. It supports L3 and L4 autonomous driving. Three such chips work in synergy to deliver a total computing power of over 2,100 TOPS, while achieving excellent power consumption control and high computing efficiency.

As China’s first domestically developed 4nm automotive-grade intelligent driving chip, it represents the highest technological level in the domestic sector: it adopts the most advanced 4nm process in the industry, and boasts 20% lower power consumption per unit of computing power than peer products. Combined with BYD’s self-developed algorithms, the chip improves computing efficiency by 100%, enabling faster system response, stronger capability to handle complex road conditions and a higher safety threshold for driving assistance.

BYD established its in-house chip design team back in 2002, the predecessor of BYD Semiconductor. Over the past 24 years, the company has steadily advanced in chip development. It was among the first domestic enterprises to mass-produce and install automotive-grade IGBT and SiC power chips, and has twice won the National Science and Technology Progress Award. To date, BYD has launched more than 2,000 chip products covering intelligent vehicles, consumer electronics, home appliances, industrial equipment, photovoltaic and energy storage sectors.

In the stringent automotive-grade chip segment, BYD stands as China’s largest supplier, offering 567 products across 13 categories, which are widely adopted by 46 domestic and international automotive brands.

The development of Xuanji A3 is underpinned by solid R&D strength: BYD’s chip team has over 7,000 professionals, with cumulative R&D investment exceeding RMB 100 billion. The company runs four major R&D bases and five wafer fabrication plants, including China’s largest 12-inch automotive-grade wafer factory in Chengdu.

BYD covers the entire industrial chain of chip manufacturing, including product definition, architecture design, circuit design, layout design, wafer fabrication, packaging and testing. It is the world’s only automaker with full in-house chip manufacturing capabilities across all processes.

BYD has long been transforming the industry with technological innovation. In the electrification era, its second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology solved global challenges such as slow charging and poor low-temperature charging performance. In the intelligent era, BYD strives to achieve the goal of zero traffic accidents. It will keep upgrading the God’s Eye system, build user confidence via safety guarantees, deploy high-computing chips for future intelligent mobility, and safeguard every user’s travel safety.

Wang Chuanfu remarked: “True courage to innovate does not mean recklessness. It means respecting life, rules and technologies, daring to take on tough yet right challenges, forging ahead and always striving to lead the way.”
